This office supply shop was established in 1895.  It has all of the modern staples with many hard to find quality items as well. There are installations created by artists hanging in the windows, and once inside you find there are displays of vintage office equipment and supplies on view all around you. They actually design and sell their own greeting cards which are a big hit.  They have even created all of the videos you see below.   Although the store is not very big you will probably find what you want.   Pieritz has a little bit of everything for both business and artistic types.  They have both standard pencils and art pencils, outstanding paper products, leather journals, unique notebooks,  pens, paints, brushes, folders and storage cases. Their ordering and procurement service is also exceptional. The shop carries many distinctive pens.   For the discriminating pen enthusiast they have Caran d'Ache, Lamy and Namiki. They also carry the Retro 1951 line whose motto is "Life is to short to carry an ugly pen".  Do you want to learn about the best lead pencil in the world?  They will tell you about it and then have one in stock. They are also the only place I know of that carries Chicago specific apartment leases.  Savvy people come to Pieritz from miles around to get them here because the generic leases you get everywhere else, don't stand up as well in court.  Pieritz is located 50 feet from the Ridgeland L stop in Oak Park on the SE corner.  You can see them from the train and the platform.  Many people see their sign everyday but have no real idea what's inside.  The customer service here is great, and there is ample parking on the street.  You must see this place.
