This place is an Oak Park staple. It has been the meeting place for many Oak Park creatives for years. The owner Rick Manzella has been selling comic books since 1978 and at his present location since 1989. Thats way before Hollywood discovered that these comic books were storyboards for movies waiting to happen. This place is the way comic book stores used to be. Its crowded with books, objects and people. He carries standards such as DC and Marvel, but he also carries independent titles that might not be available at other stores.
The new shipment of comic books are put up and available Wednesdays at noon. He also takes subscriptions for comics, and they can be mailed to the subscribers or picked up in the store. If you want to see whats new, and be surprised by modern comics and graphic novels, come to this store. You will see how broad and influential comics have become. If you have old titles you want to revisit, or you want to sell your old stash, come in and stay awhile. Its staff has a huge knowledge of the subject, and if they dont have it there, they can get it for you. Ample on street parking.
