Chicago West Community Music Center
When Chicago schools dropped music from their curriculum in Howard Sandifer and his wife Darlene felt it was a tragedy they had to do something about. They started the Chicago West Community Music Center. Their mission is to harness the creative potential of individuals through education to inspire artistic and cultural expressions.
The activities presented by CWCMC have a unifying effect on the Westside of Chicago, as residents from neighboring communities build healthy relationships sharing common interests.
Their vision is to see an on-going improvement in the economic, intellectual and social condition of the Westside communities within and nearby Chicago through education and training in the arts. The CWCMC has world class teachers associated with it. Not only do they teach music, they teach the music business. They often have concerts at the Garfield Park conservatory in Chicago. These people are heavy hitters in the Chicago music scene. They have given concerts in Paris France and Shanghai, China. They are called "the music school where Westside youth become Global Citizens." Go to their website to find the dates of their Garfield Park Conservatory concerts.
